The tragedy of Philippine democracy

Few words can describe the tragedy. Filipino democracy has failed. The EDSA spawned constitutional system as expected has spawned madness. 2001 2011  We have to put a stop to this if we don't want President-elects to submit mug shots to save time!

With apologies to the late Laura Branigan

Curtain opens and the scene is in the immigration holding room of the airport, Lei-low of Five is interrogating Glory Aray-ko, one time Queen of the realm. Glory Aray-ko  You don't seem to appreciate the seriousness of my condition. Talagang masakit! Glory Aray-ko: I defy anyone to wear that horrible halo with screws and straps for a year and not appreciate the seriousness my condition. Lei-low of Five: Yet the State has harsher punishments. But you seem to enjoy it for the publicity. Glory Aray-ko:  What do you think of me, a SM fan? You threaten like a palengke bully. Lei-low of Five : How should I threaten? Glory Aray-ko: Like a Minister of State, with justice! Lei-low of Five : Oh, justice is what you're threatened with. Glory Aray-ko : Then I'm not threatened.

With apologies to Robert Bolt and Saint Thomas More!

The timeless scene in Robert Bolt's Oscar winning "A Man for All Seasons" is rescripted to reflect today's events Dramatis personae Lei-low of Five - Secretary of Just-tiis Corolla - Chief Supreme of the Supremes PeNoy - The bachelor King (except in the original script, the King had six wives!) Lasherd-ha? - Palace spokesman The curtain opens and the scene is in the Palace dining room. Secretary Lei-low of Five : Stop her! Chief Supreme Corolla : For what? Lei-low of Five : She's dangerous! PeNoy : For all we know she will run away! Lasherd-ha? : Boss, that girl's bad! She's a habitual liar! Chief Supreme Corolla : There's no law against that! PeNoy : There is, God's law! Chief Supreme Corolla : Then let God's immigration officers arrest her! Lei-low of Five: While you talk she's gone to the airport! Chief Surpreme Corolla : And go she should, if she were the Devil herself, until she broke th

Karmic disaster!

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Noynoy Aquino continue to inflict their insidious kind of karma on the Filipino nation. In what can be described as a tragicomedy in the making we read that Mrs Arroyo wants to be given the go ahead to seek medical treatment abroad. Since she is a member of the House (and an employee of the civil service like yours truly), she had to apply for the requisite travel authority (TA) from the administrator of that government agency, no other than the Speaker, Sonny Belmonte. This was given and like in any travel authority, it spells out the itinerary and the reason of travel. The TA is a public document and has to been by the immigration officer at the airport. A government officer may demand to see it and one must present it. Mrs Arroyo unlike most government employees on  official business travel, faces suits that haven't been lodged in court (whatever that means, since without them being lodged, they aren't suits but possibly malicious accusation
